Kid Friendly Fun!!!

This is the 26th year for sponsorship of the
Children's Emporium.
 (Saturday Only)

All artists participating in the fair have been asked to donate at least one item to be purchased by children 12 years of age and under.

Prices range from $1 to $5. The purpose of the emporium is to create art appreciation for school-age children by enabling them to purchase original artwork at
Affordable Kid-Friendly Prices.

Proceeds of sales will be used to fund our annual arts scholarship. 

The Emporium will be open Saturday,  Noon to 4 p.m.
 

   

Street Chalk Art 
"Imagination Avenue" (Saturday Only)
Family Chalk Art activities take place Saturday, July 14 on Imagination Avenue
 (Maple Street) where children, teens, adults, and families will create a canvas of color. This non-competitive activity allows families and groups with all ages of artists to create art adjacent to each other. Artist- volunteers will be available in the morning until 12 noon to provide tips and demonstrations on the fine art of drawing on concrete! DIA  Creative Drop-In Workshop

This summer the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) will be coming to the Wyandotte Street Art Fair with drop-in workshops.  Part of the DIA's "Great Art, New Start" campaign, the art making workshops give children and adults a chance to be creative.  DIA staff artists will provide instructions to use beads, bells, wire, leather and markers to make a wrist/ankle rattle.  Participants can take the whimsical percussion instrument home for future enjoyment. 

The DIA is currently undergoing a six year, 60,000 sq. ft. renovation project, including a complete reinstallation of the galleries that will provide visitors with a more comprehensive and engaging experience of the museum's exceptional collections.  The museum will re-open to the public on November 23, 2007.

Backyard Obstacle Course -  navigate your way through 9 different obstacles including a 6 foot obstacle tunnel before you enter the ladder climb which leads to the top of a 16' slide. get ready for big fun!!!
