The Wyandotte Street Art Fair Committee is pleased to announce that we will once again award one $1,000 Wyandotte Street Art Fair Dan Drotar Scholarship. This scholarship will now honor the memory of Dan Drotar, a former Wyandotte Street Art Fair Committee member. A music and art enthusiast, Dan worked tirelessly to promote the arts in our community. Sadly, he passed away from cancer in late 2010.
Funds for this scholarship were derived from the 2011 Wyandotte Street Art Fair Children’s Emporium and 2012 Wyandotte Street Art Fair funds. The purpose of the Emporium is to create art appreciation for school aged children by enabling them to purchase original art work at a low cost. Each participating artist was encouraged to donate at least one item to be purchased by children, 12 years of age and under. These items are then made available in a specially designated area the Saturday of the Fair.
To be eligible for the Dan Drotar Scholarship, high school seniors who are also Wyandotte residents must submit an application, along with a portfolio of their work, by March 19th 2012.
